Plants need the right environment—the perfect balance of soil, water and sunlight—to reach their full potential. The same is true with people. A person also needs the right environment to grow and bloom. Feng Shui, the ancient Chinese art of arrangement, helps create this beneficial environment by improving the flow of the space, attracting positive energy and eliminating negative energy.

Negative energy is what it sounds like: bad. It affects all members of your family, including pets. It affects people’s moods, degrades their health and separates them from each other. It is created by stress, anger, depression, illness or traumatic events. Spaces, like a home or office, can retain this negative energy, unless Feng Shui energy clearing is performed. Here are two examples of clients whose lives improved dramatically when their space was cleared.

One of my clients, a single mother, was very concerned about her 7-year-old daughter who lived with her in an old apartment. Every night the girl slept poorly and had to wake up her mother. Can you imagine how many people before them had lived in that apartment and filled it with their problems, worries and stress? They deposited many lifetimes of negative energy into the place. Young people are very sensitive to negative energy. After our Feng Shui energy clearing, the girl could finally sleep peacefully through the night.

Another client of mine was concerned about what she described as her husband’s lack of patience and understanding. They also lived in apartment that was not comfortable for their two kids. After our Feng Shui consultation and energy clearing, her self-described “distant” husband grew warmer and started to talk about buying a house.

How to Prepare for Your Feng Shui Consultation

In preparation for your consultation you will need to draw up a basic plan of your home or office space. This plan will help us identify any problems with the space and your feelings toward the space. Your plan does not need to be perfect, but try to make it close to scale and include as many details as possible (windows, doors, beams, large furniture, yard, driveways, walkways, etc.)

You will also need to think about and list the areas of your life you want to improve. These area may include Knowledge and Self-Cultivation; Family; Wealth and Prosperity; Fame and Reputation; Love, Marriage and Relationships; Children and Creativity; Travel; Career; and Health.

What to Expect During Your Consultation

First, we will sit down and talk about the main Feng Shui principles and about your concerns and goals.

Second, we will walk through your space. I will give you suggestions about how to enhance your home or office. Please be prepared to take notes.

Third, I will perform a clearing or “smudging” with smoke from dry sage. You will help the process by visualizing positive results in the areas of your life you want to improve. For example, when I tell you we have entered the “Career” area of the space, here you might imagine yourself (or your partner) moving up to an executive position at work. Or, when I tell you we have reached the “Love” area, you will imagine yourself in happy, loving relationship.
